NECO Registration 2024- Everything You Need To Know

The National Examination Council (NECO) is an examination board that conducts the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) in Nigeria. This is a prerequisite examinations for all Nigerian students, which serves as alternative to the West African Examination Council (WAEC) the two Examinations are the two most authentic prerequisite examinations for students in Nigeria before aiming for JAMB and high institution. The only difference is that WAEC is an examination across five West African States which are Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Gambia.

Eligibility Criteria For NECO 2024

It is paramount to make sure that you have reached the Neco 2024 eligibility criteria before starting the Registration process 2024.

  • You need to be at least 16 years old when taking the exam.
  • You should have finished a minimum of five years of secondary education (SS3 or SS2) in any private or public secondary school in Nigeria.
  • Additionally, you must have taken and passed the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) or an equivalent exam.

Requirements For NECO Registration 2024

As stated by the National Examination Council (NECO) candidates must meet the following requirements

  • You need to be a current Senior Secondary School 3 or 2 student or have finished secondary school.
  • For registration, ensure you have a working phone number and email.
  • Provide accurate personal details like names, gender, date of birth, address, local government, and state of origin.
  • Prepare four passport photographs.
  • List the 8-9 subjects you plan to take in the NECO exam and have the exam fee ready for registration.

How To Register For NECO 2024

The NECO Registration procedure is prompt by two major methods which are online and offline, Here I,m going to give a detailed guide of how o follow the two procedures to register for your Neco 2024.

Though there are no longer core offline registration because the trend of the world is changing and Nigeria is not exempted. the manual registrations has been replace by the online input of candidates bio data.

Schools should make use of the offline entries before proceeding online to use the NECO online Portal www.neco.gov.ng to upload data and remaining fees for complete registration to do that you can follow the following step:

  • Un- install the previous offline application software and install the 2024 application
  • Ensure all candidates bio data and biometric are entered correctly into the application.

You can also make use of the recordable DVD/CD inside the CD is a copy of the Neco offline registration procedure which you play to master the process completely. this application can also be downloaded from the Neco official website, all schools who wants to register candidates must print the manual and follow the procedures to register their candidates. the offline registration can be save in the computer systems, school must ensure that candidates register first to enable create a registry while the online registration is just an uploading of data after payments are made.

Offline Validation

Validation is now very important because it must be done before carrying out the online registration because all entries Might have errors which must be corrected via the validation process before uploading them online.

After completing the registration process offline, schools need to verify the bio-data details before uploading the registration data online. Candidates should carefully review and correct information like their name, picture, date of birth, sex, and chosen subjects before uploading the registration data online.

After completing offline registration, schools must provide candidates with printed photocards to confirm and correct personal details. Any necessary corrections must be made offline, and a penalty fee of N7,000.00 per candidate will apply for non-validation after online upload.

Center Activation

Before payment and uploading are allowed, each school needs activation by the NECO State Coordinator. Schools must return Validation Documents, including a signed Validation List, candidates’ signed Photocards, an endorsed Entry Schedule by the State Ministry of Education (if applicable), and Subject Analysis, to their respective NECO State Offices for activation to finalize the registration process.

  • iii. Entry Schedule duly endorsed by the State Ministry of Education where applicable
  • iv. Subject Analysis

Pay and Upload

All payments must be made through the school’s online NECO portal, with the registration quota allocated based on the amount paid into the NECO TSA. Schools can then select and upload individual candidates after payment, ensuring at least 20 candidates are initially paid for when opting for installment payments.

The payment receipt, sent to the school’s email or printable from the transaction history, along with the final validation list signed by candidates, must be endorsed by the School Principal/Commandant and submitted to the NECO State Office for the admission and biometric verification of candidates during the examination.

Neco 2024 Registration Form Fee and other Materials

  • The registration fee for the 2023 SSCE Internal is exclusively N17,800.00 per candidate.
  • A pair of photo albums is priced at N1,700.00
  • Each copy of the four-figure table is available for N500.00.
  • The Waterproof Certificate Jacket/Folder can be obtained for N2,000.00 per candidate.e
  • The syllabus is priced at N1,500.00 per copy.
  • An unviable centre fee amounts to N50,000.00.
  • Late registration incurs an additional penalty of N2,000.00 per candidate
  • Please be aware that Stamp Duty, Service, and Remita charges are applicable.

Other Important Informations

Schools must register a minimum of 20 candidates, and those with fewer candidates are deemed unviable, requiring a payment of N50,000 for on-site exams.

Electronic photo albums, generated by the Council, cost N1,700 per pair, accommodating 171 candidates each; a copy is sent to the school upon purchase.

NECO SSCE syllabus is priced at N1,500 per copy, with schools recommended to obtain at least four copies. Additionally, candidates must acquire NECO four-figure tables at N500 each.

Neco 2024 Registration Starting Date & Closing/ Deadline

The registration for the 2024 NECO exam will start on December 13th, 2023, and end on June 20th, 2024. It’s important to know that after June 20th, 2024, the NECO website won’t be accessible. So, if you plan to register for the 2024 NECO exam, make sure to complete your registration on time to avoid any problems as the deadline gets closer.

What are the Subject Requirement For NECO Registration 2024

 A minimum of 8 subjects and a maximum of 9 subjects in your exam. These subjects must include Mathematics and English Language.
